Production Ready

Metal AM is known for producing stronger, lighter parts with complex geometries. However, material limitations have constrained its potential. NeuBeam®, through the Calibur3® machine, expands material options and unlocks new applications across industries.

Aerospace

Calibur3® enables lighter, stronger parts, reducing weight and emissions for aerospace applications.

There is so much more that the aerospace industry can achieve with NeuBeam® and a wider palette of metal materials. As adopters of metal AM processes, aerospace companies have been working for years to identify key components that can be re-designed for AM to make the parts stronger and lighter. These are now flying. Reduced weight is a huge driver for the aerospace industry as it enables lower fuel consumption and reduced emissions in the push for net zero.

Defence

Calibur3® supports on-demand, distributed manufacturing with flexible materials for key components, optimised for high-performance applications.

The defence sector is always an early adopter of breakthroughs in technology. OEMs working in the area of military and defence recognise the benefits of metal AM for the development and repair of key components with specific material requirements. Calibur3® offers the ability to print new and existing alloys flexibly, on demand, from any location in the world. The open architecture allows optimisation of the print process giving superlative performance for the most demanding applications.

Energy

Calibur3® supports novel materials for increased turbine efficiency and hydrogen-fuel challenges.

The energy sector and its various sub-sectors (whether renewables / oil / gas / civil nuclear) are looking to metal AM processes as a solution for repairing and replacing critical components. Manufacturing on demand, closer to the point of need is key. Calibur3® supports the processing of novel materials which are being developed to increase turbine temperature resistance and therefore increase efficiency. It also supports materials required to overcome challenges associated with a transition to Hydrogen fuels, such as Tungsten for shielding applications.

Automotive

Calibur3® produces lighter & stronger parts for race cars, with potential applications in electric vehicles.

For motor racing, metal AM can offer huge advantages on and off the track in developing new parts that are stronger and lighter, and can be delivered on demand. Consumer automotive development is a different beast, particularly in terms of production volumes, but R&D for motorsport applications can be transitioned to the consumer automotive sector for the right applications with the right materials. Calibur3® provides these opportunities as well as supporting the developing parts for EV applications such as gearboxes.

Mining

Calibur3® delivers durable, wear-resistant parts & can overcome supply chain complexity in remote areas.

Mines are harsh and highly abrasive environments that quickly degrade plant and equipment. These are often remote sites, with long and logistically challenging supply chains. Calibur3® brings the capability to print new materials with supreme wear resistance so that parts last far longer. Parts can also be supplied locally on demand (days not months) so that mining operations can be back up and running rapidly — at much lower cost, and without the need to stock a vast array of spare parts.

Medical

Calibur3® boosts productivity and reduces costs, facilitating high-quality, scalable implant and device manufacturing.

Metal AM continues to drive the development of improved standard and customised orthopaedic implants. It enables the production of higher-performing designs and simplifies the manufacturing process chain for medical devices. Calibur3® builds on this by offering a leap forward in productivity while reducing costs, and offers a new way forward for scaling up high quality AM implant and metal medical device manufacturing.
