Wayland Additive CEO Features on Happy Warriors Documentary

We are really delighted to share the latest episode of ‘Happy Warriors,’ a 50 Years documentary series “about the scientist-founders building the next century.” That’s because it features our CEO, Will Richardson.

The episode has a fairly long title: “How Will Richardson is Rebuilding UK Manufacturing from Yorkshire - Inside Wayland Additive's Electron-beam 3D Metal Printing Breakthrough.”

It premiered at the end of last week, and we encourage all of our team, our partners, our customers and our potential customers to take a look.

Along with the origin story of Wayland and the Huddersfield HQ development from Will’s personal perspective, you’ll also gain some real insight into the challenges and successes from the earliest days of the project that “became” Wayland Additive. Will also delivers his views on the team and the technology, taking it from a small start-up through significant growth and into commercial success.

We’re not going to give too much away here, but if you head over to the episode (link below) you will discover more from Will on why sovereign manufacturing in the UK matters now; the forgotten manufacturing DNA of the Yorkshire valleys; why eBeam additive manufacturing (AM) technology arrived at the right moment (notably for the B-52s, the reshoring push, and the case for spare parts with AM); the eight-week customer breakthrough, and a founder without the costume.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Souvid Datta, the filmmaker and Creative Director behind Happy Warriors for his thoughtful and though-provoking approach.
